Secretary's Corner
By Teresa Durham, PMP, PMI Atlanta Secretary
Have you thanked a volunteer today?
You’ve no doubt heard that volunteers are the lifeblood of PMI. Ok, maybe you haven’t heard it in those exact words, but volunteers make things happen both at PMI global and your local chapter, PMI Atlanta. Every member of PMI Atlanta’s board is a volunteer. Most officers, in addition to serving on the board, are managing committees made up of member volunteers. Every month, your fellow PMI Atlanta members are making the dinner and lunch meetings, training classes and special events happen successfully for this chapter. Volunteers bring you this newsletter and our Web site content. Volunteers bring PMI Atlanta to the attention of local businesses and institutions and get recruiters to come to our meetings when they are looking for project management talent.
PMI Atlanta is a very large chapter of over 4000 members, and there is much to be done, so keep an eye out for volunteer opportunities posted in the newsletter and on our website, http://www.pmiatlanta.org. You can also volunteer with PMI global.
Current opportunities consist of evaluators for PMI global awards, council sub-team members, and newsletter Spanish content team. Keep an eye on http://www.pmi.org/getinvolved for other PMI volunteer opportunities.
